Privacy policy
This sample policy explains how HopCookie handles account information and consent records. For questions or privacy requests, the example contact is [email protected].
Who is responsible
Example Company Ltd (placeholder), 123 Example Street, Example City, Country, operates this service and is responsible for account, support and billing information. When a website owner installs our script, that owner decides which cookies and scripts to use and is responsible for informing visitors about them. We process the visitor consent records on the owner's behalf.
Information we handle
For accounts, we use your name, email address, password hash, website settings and support communications. A login session also stores an IP address and browser identifier. If you choose a paid plan, Stripe handles checkout and we store the resulting customer and subscription identifiers.
For a website visitor's consent choice, we store a random receipt identifier, the decision, selected categories, configuration version, page URL without query parameters and time. The browser keeps a consent cookie so the site can remember the choice. A scan stores cookie names, domains and script URLs; it keeps the latest completed scan for each site.
Why we use it
We use account information to provide the service, secure access, send account emails and manage subscriptions. Our grounds for this processing are performance of our agreement with you and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure. We record consent choices so website owners can manage and demonstrate the settings shown to visitors. Website owners determine the legal basis for cookies and related processing on their sites. We use website scan results to help owners review their cookie lists. We use IP addresses temporarily to limit abuse of login and consent endpoints.
Service providers and retention
Cloudways hosts the application, Resend sends account emails, Stripe handles checkout, and Cloudflare Browser Run powers browser scans. These providers process relevant data when their features are used. We keep the latest scan per website; consent records remain until the website is deleted. Account records remain while the account is active. Contact us to request deletion or a copy of your data. Some records may need to be retained where law requires it.
Your choices and rights
You can update your account details in Profile & security. Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or object to processing by emailing [email protected]. You may complain to a data protection authority. For cookies on a customer's website, use that site's cookie settings or contact its owner; the owner controls the categories and descriptions.
