Answers before you install
The details that usually matter when a banner meets an existing website.
Product and setup
What is a consent management platform?
A CMP presents visitors with cookie choices, records those choices and uses them to control supported optional scripts and consent signals. The website owner still decides which services belong in each category.
Do I need a WordPress or Laravel plugin?
No. Add the site-specific JavaScript snippet to the document head. The same approach works with WordPress, Laravel and plain HTML.
Why must the script load before other tags?
The browser cannot undo a script that has already run or a request it has already sent. Early placement lets the consent script set defaults and hold matching optional scripts before they start.
Does Google Consent Mode replace GTM consent settings?
No. HopCookie sends the default and updated Google signals. Configure consent requirements for your tags in GTM and test the container after a reject and an accept.
Scanning and cookies
What does the scanner actually inspect?
It follows public links and sitemaps within the configured website path, then observes cookies and scripts in a browser. Where the banner actions are available, it compares before choice, after rejection and after acceptance. Private pages and unreachable states are outside that result.
Where do cookie descriptions come from?
The scanner can suggest English descriptions from an online cookie catalogue. You review and approve each cookie before its description appears in the public list.
Can subdomains share a choice?
Yes, when they are added and verified under one site and sharing is configured. You can instead add a subdomain as its own website with separate settings.
Can I manage a website inside a folder?
Yes. Add a full address such as example.com/store/ as a website. Its scan starts inside that path, and the banner configuration belongs to that entry.
Does installing a banner alone make my site GDPR compliant?
No. You must identify the technologies on your site, classify them correctly, test that optional processing waits for consent and keep your notices accurate. A banner is one part of that work.
Plans and billing
What changes between Free and Premium?
Free covers one website with up to 50 discovered pages. Premium is billed per website, with its tier determined by the scanner. The pricing page shows the current limits and monthly prices.
Will a paid-plan click charge my card now?
When the pricing page says Test mode, checkout uses Stripe test payments and no real charge is made. Check the current status on the pricing page before starting checkout.
