Google Consent Mode

The installation script sets denied defaults for optional Google consent signals and updates them when a visitor saves a choice.

In practice

Signals follow categories

Analytics choices update analytics_storage. Marketing choices update ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization.

GTM still needs its own checks

Consent Mode communicates a choice to Google tags. In Google Tag Manager, make sure each tag's consent settings and triggers match the category you intend to allow.

Check before going live

Use a fresh browser session to inspect the default and updated signals. Do not assume every third-party tag obeys Google Consent Mode.
