Terms of service
Last updated 27 October 2026
These terms govern your use of HopCookie, operated by [Company name], company code [company code], [registered address] (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or installing the HopCookie script, you agree to them. Contact: [email protected].
The service
HopCookie lets you add a cookie consent banner to your websites, scan them for cookies and scripts, block optional scripts until visitors consent, send Google Consent Mode signals, keep a log of consent choices and draft cookie and privacy policies. The features available to you depend on your plan.
Your account
- Authority. You must be able to enter into a binding agreement. If you use HopCookie for a company or client, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these terms on its behalf.
- Accurate details. Keep your name, email address and billing information accurate and up to date.
- Security. Keep your login details confidential. You are responsible for activity in your account and should tell us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access.
Acceptable use
When using HopCookie, you must not:
- Use other people's websites — add, verify, scan or configure websites you do not own or are not authorised to manage.
- Mislead visitors — use the banner or policies to present false or deceptive information, or to collect consent unlawfully.
- Disrupt the service — overload, attack, probe or interfere with HopCookie, other customers' websites or the scanner, or use the scanner for anything other than reviewing your own websites.
- Bypass limits — circumvent plan limits, access controls or the domain verification process.
- Break the law — use the service in a way that violates applicable law or the rights of others.
Your compliance responsibilities
HopCookie is a tool; you remain responsible for how your websites use cookies and personal data. In particular:
- Configuration. You choose the cookie categories, descriptions, scripts and banner text, and must keep them accurate as your website changes.
- Installation. Install the HopCookie script before any optional tags and review scan findings before approving them.
- Policies. Generated cookie and privacy policies are drafts based on your settings. Review and adapt them before publishing.
- Technical limits. Browser restrictions and server-set cookies mean a JavaScript-based consent tool cannot block or remove every cookie, and scans may not find everything on your website.
Using HopCookie alone does not make a website legally compliant. Review your implementation for your website and the jurisdictions you operate in.
Processing visitor data for you
For consent records and other visitor data collected through the banner, you are the controller and we are your processor. We process this data only to provide HopCookie, on your documented instructions given through these terms, your settings and your use of the service. Categories of our service providers and our security measures are described in the privacy policy; the current list of service providers is available on request at [email protected]. We will help you respond to visitors' requests where we reasonably can, and we delete a website's consent records when you delete that website.
Plans and payments
- Free plan. Covers the websites and page counts shown on the Pricing page and does not require payment details.
- Premium. Is billed per website. The scanner determines each website's tier from its page count; a higher tier takes effect from the next billing cycle.
- Billing. Payments are processed by our payment provider. Prices are shown before checkout and exclude VAT, which is added where applicable. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
- Cancellation. You can manage or cancel a subscription in the billing portal, which shows when the change takes effect.
- Non-payment. If a payment fails and is not resolved, we may move your account to the Free plan or suspend features that exceed its limits.
Availability and changes to the service
We work to keep HopCookie available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may carry out maintenance, and we may add, change or remove features as the product and the law evolve.
Intellectual property
We own HopCookie, including its software, design and content. You keep ownership of your content, such as banner text, cookie descriptions and policies, and you give us permission to store and process it as needed to provide the service. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.
Ending use
- You can remove the HopCookie script, delete websites in the workspace or ask us to close your account by writing to [email protected].
- We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, puts the service or others at risk, or remains unpaid. Where reasonable, we will warn you first.
- Afterwards, the banner stops working on your websites, so remove the script before closing your account. Data is deleted as described in the privacy policy. Removing the script does not remove cookies other code has already placed in visitors' browsers.
Liability
HopCookie is provided “as is” to the extent permitted by law. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or data, or for fines and claims arising from how you configure or use the service. Our total liability under these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for intent or gross negligence, or rights you have as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when HopCookie or the law changes. The date at the top shows the current version. By continuing to use HopCookie after an update, you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the country where [Company name] is registered, without affecting mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence. Contact us at [email protected] first if you have a problem — most issues can be solved quickly.
